요약영문초록:The use of multimedia in distributed environments has begun to include such complex and mission-critical domains as portable media player, multipoint video conferencing, tele-medicine and military system. These multimedia services impose more stringent requirements on the support mechanisms provided by underlying networks and operating systems than most currently deployed continuous media streaming services. In this paper, we present a new framework and stream synchronization mechanism to effectively support developing real-time multimedia streaming services by using a real-time object model named TMO (Time-triggered Message-triggered Object). The purpose of a new framework is twofold. Firstly, the framework helps developers to design complex distributed real-time multimedia streaming services. Secondly, it supports timely streaming facilities. In order to achieve these goals, our framework is consists of MMStream TMO (Multimedia Streaming TMO), Time-triggered Media Processing Component, MMStream TMO Support Library, and MMStream TMO Support Middleware. The time -triggered spontaneous feature of the MMStream TMO is used as a regulator against the irregular deliveries and processing of media units caused by lack of local system resources and network delay. These functions of MMStream TMO are designed by using SpM's since an SpM is activated by AAC specification on time. Our real-time multimedia framework provide the consistent construction and configuration of time-triggered media processing components across heterogeneous distributed object environments easily. Multimedia streams such as audio and video impose tight temporal constraints due to their continuous nature. In order to provide reliable multimedia streaming services, the data elements in a stream must be presented at the sink node in manners exhibiting the same temporal relationship that existed among the data elements when they are captured at the source node. We propose a mechanism to ensure the continuous and synchronous playout of time-based media for time-triggered multimedia streaming. The key of the mechanism is to make the period of processing each streamed frame by started as exactly same global time as possible at each receiver side. The global time feature of the synchronization scheme not only enhances the accuracy of the synchronization among distributed nodes, but also provides developers simple but powerful means for specifying the synchronization requirements from the design time. The experiments showed that our framework and synchronization scheme can tolerate the network and end-system delay jitters and provide real-time multimedia streaming services effectively. In conclusion, timely service capability of our framework is expected to contributed to overall enhancement of the real-time multimedia streaming.
